  7.                        PROVOX Version 3.03

  9.      PROVOX is a full-featured screen review program which runs
  10. on any IBM or true Compatible computer.  It requires less than
  11. 29K of your computer's memory, which makes it one of the smallest
  12. full-featured screen-review programs available.  The software
  13. supports a variety of speech synthesizers including the Artic
  14. SynPhonix 200/210/215--(running SONIX-2), Votrax Votalker IB and
  15. PSS; Audapter, Echo GP/PC as well as the line of internal Echo
  16. boards for IBM and compatible computers, the Accent line from
  17. Aicom, SpeakEasy System and the Braille n' Speak.  Moreover, you
  18. can switch among any of these synthesizers at any time.  Please
  19. inquire about the support of additional synthesizers, such as the
  20. DEC-Talk, which is coming soon.

  22.      All PROVOX commands begin with one press of the slash key,
  23. which eliminates conflicts in the use of keys for other purposes.
  24. If you need to enter a true slash, you simply press the key
  25. twice. PROVOX has a direct mode and a review mode; however, there
  26. are so many convenient features available in direct mode that you
  27. may rarely need to use review mode.    Thanks to its ingenious
  28. design, PROVOX is adept at tracking the system cursor in
  29. difficult situations including Local Area and Wide Area Networks
  30. and on IBM and other mainframes.
  31.  
  32.          Even in direct mode, PROVOX lets you review the screen,
  33. including the letter, word, or line containing the cursor, the
  34. entire screen, or any rectangular section of it, called a
  35. subscreen or a window. Some subscreens are permanently defined,
  36. and you may define others to meet specific needs.  The permanent
  37. subscreens and ten of your own definitions are always available
  38. in direct mode with a single keystroke.  Ten user-defined
  39. subscreens form a screen bank. You may switch among ten screen
  40. banks with a two keystroke PROVOX command.  In addition to
  41. reading pre-defined portions of the screen, sub-screens can also
  42. filter your data for the presence or absence of one of eight
  43. basic screen colors, or any video attribute.  This filtering can
  44. be done with foreground and/or background colors and attributes. 
  45. All ten screen banks (i.e., 100 subscreen definitions) together
  46. with other PROVOX parameters may be saved to and loaded from a
  47. config file.  A utility program allows the automatic loading of
  48. any Config File and Screen Bank from within a batch file.  The
  49. screen can be searched forward or backward for a string of up to
  50. 9 characters.  A new feature, called Auto Alert, allows you to
  51. monitor any pre-defined portion of the screen.  PROVOX will
  52. notify you when a change has been made to that area.  It will
  53. either read you the new information automatically, beep when a
  54. change is made, or both.  Another new feature called "Auto
  55. Ignore" allows you to specify any portion of the screen to be
  56. excluded from speech output.  Further, it is possible to make
  57. PROVOX interrupt ongoing speech with any keystroke, a feature
  58. that fast typists and those persons who are familiar with their
  59. software will appreciate.  Finally, two utility programs, "QUIET"
  60. and "SPEAK" make it possible to easily remove and restore PROVOX
  61. without rebooting your computer.

  63.      The PROVOX program is available in a Demo Version which runs
  64. for 30 minutes at a time, then ceases to speak.  Both the demo
  65. and permanent packages come with a disk-based tutorial.  This
  66. tutorial will allow you to explore your PC's keyboard safely,
  67. learn PROVOX  and test yourself along the way.  Further, in the
  68. demo version, the half hour time limit is suspended when you are
  69. using the tutor program.

  71.                                 TURBO BRAILLE (TBRL)
  72.  
  73. Turbo Braille is a computer program which makes it possible for anyone to produce
  74. formatted Grade 2 English braille whether they know about braille
  75. or not.  It does this because it accepts word processor files
  76. used by WordPerfect 4.2 or 5.0, Wordstar Professional Version 4.0
  77. and 5.x or standard ASCII text files formatted for printing.  The
  78. program allows the user to go directly from any supported file
  79. type to a braille document.  Turbo Braille will run on any MS/DOS
  80. computer.

  82.      Users of Turbo Braille can generate Grade II, Grade I, or
  83. computer braille files.   For more precise formatting and
  84. editing, "BIF" files (Braille Intermediate Files) can be
  85. generated.  "BIF" files contain the original text interspersed
  86. with simple "dot commands" that control the formatting of the
  87. braille page.  Even without this feature, Turbo Braille does
  88. automatic centering, paragraphing, page numbering, and creates
  89. italics to reflect print enhancements such as boldface or
  90. underlined text.  Special commands in Turbo Braille permit
  91. switching among grades of braille in mid-sentence, or even in
  92. mid-word if desired.  Print and braille page numbers are also
  93. supported.  The rules employed by the program are stored in a
  94. separate text file and are read into the program when it
  95. executes.  Thus, the rules are user modifiable.

  97.    TURBO BRAILLE offers speed, flexibility, compatibility with
  98. your word processor or editor, reliability and ease-of-use, all
  99. for a reasonable cost.

  101.                               NAMES
  102.  
  103.      "NAMES" is an easy-to-use program which will allow you to
  104. keep track of names, addresses, phone numbers and identifying
  105. information called "Tags" on everyone you know.  It will run on
  106. any IBM or compatible computer and will work with your favorite
  107. screen review program and speech synthesizer.  "NAMES" is
  108. designed to be equally usable by blind and sighted computer
  109. users.  It sports an attractive and efficient screen layout while
  110. presenting line-oriented information through normal DOS channels,
  111. to ensure compatibility with screen review programs.

  113.      "NAMES" can display information to your computer's screen or
  114. print out address information onto a variety of label sizes or
  115. individual envelopes.   Each entry is defined by a unique Key of
  116. any length.  Keys are used for sorting data.  All fields,
  117. including Name, two address lines, city, state, zip, home and
  118. work phone numbers and an unlimited number of Tags, are pre-
  119. defined, so all you have to do is start entering data.  The size
  120. of your lists is only limited by the size of your computer's
  121. memory.  We have successfully used the program with lists of 1000
  122. entries or more.

  124.      The program also permits you to load and save multiple
  125. lists, mark or unmark entries and retrieve entries by Tags or
  126. Keys.  We think that you'll find "NAMES" to be all the list
  127. management software you'll ever need.

  129.                                 SHAREWARE PROGRAMS
  130.  
  131. Kansys, Inc., distributes two shareware programs, RALPH THE
  132. READER and WATCHDOG.  RALPH will allow you to easily read any
  133. WordPerfect, Wordstar or ASCII file.  You can search the file
  134. forward or backward for any character string or immediately jump
  135. to any point within the file.  The program is designed to work
  136. well with all screen review programs.  WATCHDOG is a utility
  137. which provides you with auditory feedback when activity occurs to
  138. your computer's screen.  It can also monitor any LPT or COM port
  139. or any software interrupt.

  141.      Both programs are available on a variety of local
  142. bulletinboards and information services including Compuserve and
  143. GENIE.  The programs are shareware and you are encouraged to copy
  144. them for your friends or to upload them to your local
  145. bulletinboards.
